Mariska was nominated, yet again, for an Emmy! Congratulations, Mariska!

Also, Brenda Blethyn, Carol Burnett, AND Ellen Burstyn were all nominted for Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Congratulations to them! It is amazing to see three out of the five nominees all from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

August’s REDBOOK – Mariska Recalls Collapsed Lung

In the August issue of Redbook Magazine, which Mariska is featured in as well as on the cover, she recalls her lung collapsing on set and her health now. This issue will be on newsstands July 21st.

I know myself, along with many others, were really wondering why people had stated she was injured while sledding in the Hamptons. Based on this article, she thinks the injury was from three months before she went to the hospital. It’s possible that she was sledding on New Year’s Day and ended up falling.

2009 Emmy Awards Submissions for Nomination

Our girl has been submitted for consideration of an Emmy Nomination for this year. Mariska has been submitted for the Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Keep your fingers crossed she makes the cut!

Also, Stephanie March and Tamara Tunie have been submitted for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Richard Belzer, Dann Florek, Ice-T, B.D. Wong have all been submitted for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. I’m not sure why Chris missed out. Disappointing!

Gracie Awards & Baby Buggy Bedtime Bash

Mariska has attended the The 34th Annual American Women in Radio & Television’s Gracie Awards Gala on June 3 where she was one of the women awarded. The award she received was:

Mariska Hargitay in Law & Order: SVU
Individual Achievement Award
Outstanding Female Lead – Drama Series
NBC

For those unaware, the Gracie Awards ’strive to encourage the realistic portrayal of women in entertainment, commercial, news, features and other programs.’

No sledding accident

It has been revealed by People Magazine that Mariska’s collapsed lung was actually from doing her own stunt on SVU-not a sledding accidnet which has been widely reported. At her recent appearance at the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala she told People:

“I’ve been doing my own stunts on the show for 10 years. I fell wrong, basically. I collapsed my lung doing a stunt.”

Mariska is now back to her former health:

“I’m 100 percent. I’m back to my old self.”

Mariska actually said the following in her recent cover of Health Magazine:

For 10 years, we said, “We have to do our own stunts.” We’d have to be badasses. I don’t know what we were trying to prove. And now we’re both like, “No way! Let the stunt double do it!” The fact is, we can get hurt, and we do get hurt.

A hint that we didn’t pick up on? Either way it is great to hear that she is back to her former health.

WOW! I don’t know how many of you have Verizon, but for so many months now, I have been receiving calls about my automobile’s warranty. Well, turns out Verizon has STOPPED these calls with a $50,000 settlement! And they are donating that $50,000 TO JOYFUL HEART FOUNDATION!!!

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has officially been renewed for an 11th season. Chris and Mariska still have not signed contracts, so no idea if they will be back yet.

2009 Rays of Hope Awards Gala

Mariska will be honored at this year’s Rays of Hope Awards Gala for the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship! The event will be on May 13th in Washington, D.C.

The Rays of Hope Awards Gala honors the work of individuals and organizations that have been outstanding. You can read more about the gala here and purchase tickets for the event. Mariska was actually going to be honored last year at the 2008 awards gala, but she did not attend, so hopefully she will attend this year.
