My view is that Olivia has not been living as a closetted bisexual/lesbian for the past 10 seasons. It just doesn’t add up with her character. If she was gay, she would be out and matter of fact about it. Also, comments that the character has made do not make sense from someone living in the closet. E.g. in season 9 episode ‘Closet’, Benson asks what the big deal is about a famous football player being gay. If she were gay and not open about it, it wouldn’t cross her mind to make this comment, cos she would understand exactly what the big deal was. However, plenty of people go out with one gender for years, and then fall in love with someone of the other gender. So it’s possible that Olivia could meet a woman that she falls for. I think she’d be open to that. I just don’t go for this stuff about her having been in the closet up till this point.

i dont think that olivia benson is gay but i would like to see her get in a relationship with elliott that would be a goog storyline for the show and one other thing it would be great if she had a mini elliott running around the precint i think it would be cool if she were having a baby on the show and it was elliotts baby

I think it would be a great and interesting twist of the storyline if Olivia was gay! Her and Alex would make a great couple! would love to see the guys in svu’s faces!!!!

Personally, I think Olivia is the kind of person that is attracted to the perosn’s soul/spirit rather then the gender. For example, Alex Cabot.
-They are both women in a hard job.
-They are in a job that is mostly 90% male.
-They’ve seen things that a human being should never see.
-Both are very ‘married’ to their jobs but wouldn’t give it a second thought of being their for someone.
-Both are very independant and strong but yet are very vulnrable (sp?).

There is an obvious connection between the two women because of that – they can relate to the other better then anyone. And yes, you can also say that about Elliot too.

Although I am a BIG shipper of A/O, I think it’s much more about what’s inside the person rather then the gender. So if Olivia is straight, cool. If she’s gay, cool. If she’s bi, cool. Either way, I hope the writers give what ever relationship she has with respect and dignity.

I dont think olivia is gay. she and elliot share way too much chemistry. she is always dating women. and i think alot of people would be upset if she was. alot of people, including me, know e/o is ment to be.
i personally wouldnt care if she was gay, but i think she isw straight.

I must admit, I used to be a shipper, but thank goodness I grew out of that! Elliott acts like a jerk, most of the time & their chemistry is not what it used to be! I don’t really think Liv is gay, but if she is-SO WHAT! I would just like to see her happy, for once!! No matter what that means, I would love to see Olivia Benson very happy! Love Mariska, she’s great!!!

I just don’t see her being attracted to Alex. She uses terms of endearment for victims all the time, and Alex is her friend, so of course she uses one for her. Personally, I think it would be a cop-out if they made her gay, simply because I think it would be turning their back on the character they have established up to this point.

look i ship E/O…i love these guys together and wish they would in a way “get it together” but. i agree with some on here that say maybe after undercover she has not started trusting men yet…we dont know whats going on in her head.
cos if she cant trust men and finds herself questioning whether she wants men or women..and maybe if that storyline does happen some woman will knock liv off her feet..im secretly hoping its alex if it comes to that…i mean come on guys she needs SOMEONE in her life, shes lonely. whether it be a man or a woman..its tv they write it, we dont.

Well, again i would totally love to see her with either Elliot or Alex, but i really wonder if NBC or the writers would go for this. I know that other shows have had bi characters before, and have had characters cheat. Dick Wolf is actually good friends with this catholic bishop from philadelphia that i met, and he helps with the writing. I just wonder if they would risk pissing off that portion of their audiance. Just a thought, not a judgement.

I would also like to comment that even though she has had boyfriends in the past it is entirely possible that she likes chicks too. Its never said that she doesn’t feel attracted to the fairer sex and i for one can vouch that its the person not the gender that you fall in love with. Shes totally into Cabot in my opinion.
