SVU – Season 11? Is Benson gay?

I do not think Olívia is gay. Nor would I be fosse.Não that homophobia is that I Olívia above the point of its guidance sexual.O that it is more important to his ideal of helping the next and fight crime sexual.Eu wanted but it was given her a great love, as she deserves. But heterosexual love.

I think this whole propaganda surround thit question “is benson gay” is kind of pulse measure for us.. and its depends on whether mariska will stay for the next season or not, according to what has been said about the negotiations that its not so good so far for her to renew her contract with NBC, I seriously think they are going to make her character come out only if she is leaving.. just like ADA Serena Southerlyn\Elisabeth Rohm form the mothership law&order remember? except the fact that Elisabeth is the one who was secretly wanting her character to be gay for the whole 5 years on the show “her own words not mine” so there! if mariska is leaving they will make Olivia gay.. if she is not..hmmm..I’m not sure how they are going to get rid of this uproar they have caused!

I don’t think she’s gay, but she MIGHT be bi. She’s had multiple boyfriends and has an extreme connection to Stabler. So, no I don’t think she’s gay. I wish, though. lol ;P

Olivia Benson is one of the most beautiful character on TV right now. Hargitay knows how bless she is and try to give something in return. Ok, the question… I think making her gay will be inconsistent with her character. She has struggled with so many demons before but her sexuality is not one of them. Beside, she has always been honest with herself. She is a little bit older to step out of the closet now. I see her struggling with maternity, for example, and I will love to see Potter again. Beside Elliot he is the only one with whom I felt she had a connection.

I agree, it is inconsistent to suddenly make her character gay. They’ve barely focused on boyfriends, because that’s not what the show is about, but whether she is gay or not is relevant to the show and her character as a whole. I doubt she’s gay, and I don’t understand why they’d make her gay when the show will probably end soon.

It wouldn’t be inconsistent to have Olivia reveal she is also into women. People that ship e/o are terrified and threatened of seeing a ‘connection’ with any other charcter for Olivia, especially female, because it threatens this perfect little fandom world they’ve created for themselves. I call it denial and ignorance. There are multiple episodes where there has been plenty of ‘connection’ and subtext between Alex Cabot and Oliva Benson so it baffles me that fans, the majority being e/o shippers, can say that there hasn’t been. The fact that Neal Bear says there has been subtext (being deliberate of his own doing!) says enough in itself. Stephanie March (whom plays Alex Cabot) recently said herself: [[Finally, when asked whether Alex and Olivia are in love and just not realizing it yet, March answered, "I’m not saying we’re not...I’m not saying we’re not in love."]] If an actress involved in playing the couple with subtext can admit it then why can’t all SVU fans see it?? Very suspicious imo. I’m not saying there isn’t subtext between e/o. I can admit there is. Why can’t you admit it for a/o? SVU fans I say this to you, would it be the end of the world if Olivia admitted she also likes women? You may say yes because then it threatens your prefered ship. But that is called denial. Not even Olivia knows whether she’s gay, yet. The rumors surfaced January, in time for pre-negotiations for season 11 with NBS. Mariska will find out whether Olivia is gay, bi, or transferred to another unit, in mid-summer when the not so-bright folks who think they control the standards of TV and Nielsen Ratings decide what to do with the contracts. It’s the best show on TV, but don;t forget, folks, it’s actually not, really, well, real! they make it up as they go (or get paid) along. Why do you think ther’s been not even a tickle between Eliot and Ilivia? buying ratings time while we wait, and then get BS like Zebras (see: last line spoken by Elliot in season 10 finale).

i’ve watched every episode and although there are’nt any love scenes wit her i dont think she is gay. she is just being cautious about men. and yea i’ve noticed how she watched stabler. although i think she should be hooking up wit a very sexy guy.

ok lets get this straight she is not gay at all she has had alot of boyfriends throughout the show and besides she loves elliot and elliot lover her so the people who think she’s gay you are dead wrong and i would just like to say IF she is gay then she can be gay because there’s nothin wrong with gay people and i would also like to say that you are an amazig actor Mariska Hargitay and that Christopher Meloni is HOT.

Olivia could be gay, maybe because she doesn’t trust men? I wouldn’t blame her. BUT she just as well could be straight and learned to trust men after meeting Elliot. She could end up with Alex and be gay or bi. She could end up with Elliot and be gay or bi. BUT the ONLY thing that matters is that she ends up with the one she really loves. That’s the only way I’ll be able to let this show go lol.

Bottom line: Benson is sexy, strong, beautiful, compassionate, and dedicated. Why does it matter if she’s gay?

No, I don’t think Benson is gay… I just think she prefers to pine over someone she can’t have than have someone real. I REALLY want her and Elliot to get together, but that’s a really good way to ruin the show. I think keeping that friendship strong and showing how protective she is of him… and letting him reciprocate just a tiny bit more than he does already… would be good.

Olivia is totally bisexual. No girlfriends are mentioned but they chemistry between a certain ADA and herself speaks volumes. In many episodes it is obvious that they share a mutual attraction to one another. Cabot gets shot and Olivia calls her sweetie so it alludes that she may have feelings for Alex or that they were in a relationship.

I would also like to comment that even though she has had boyfriends in the past it is entirely possible that she likes chicks too. Its never said that she doesn’t feel attracted to the fairer sex and i for one can vouch that its the person not the gender that you fall in love with. Shes totally into Cabot in my opinion.

Well, again i would totally love to see her with either Elliot or Alex, but i really wonder if NBC or the writers would go for this. I know that other shows have had bi characters before, and have had characters cheat. Dick Wolf is actually good friends with this catholic bishop from philadelphia that i met, and he helps with the writing. I just wonder if they would risk pissing off that portion of their audiance. Just a thought, not a judgement.

look i ship E/O…i love these guys together and wish they would in a way “get it together” but. i agree with some on here that say maybe after undercover she has not started trusting men yet…we dont know whats going on in her head.
cos if she cant trust men and finds herself questioning whether she wants men or women..and maybe if that storyline does happen some woman will knock liv off her feet..im secretly hoping its alex if it comes to that…i mean come on guys she needs SOMEONE in her life, shes lonely. whether it be a man or a woman..its tv they write it, we dont.

I just don’t see her being attracted to Alex. She uses terms of endearment for victims all the time, and Alex is her friend, so of course she uses one for her. Personally, I think it would be a cop-out if they made her gay, simply because I think it would be turning their back on the character they have established up to this point.

I must admit, I used to be a shipper, but thank goodness I grew out of that! Elliott acts like a jerk, most of the time & their chemistry is not what it used to be! I don’t really think Liv is gay, but if she is-SO WHAT! I would just like to see her happy, for once!! No matter what that means, I would love to see Olivia Benson very happy! Love Mariska, she’s great!!!

I dont think olivia is gay. she and elliot share way too much chemistry. she is always dating women. and i think alot of people would be upset if she was. alot of people, including me, know e/o is ment to be.
i personally wouldnt care if she was gay, but i think she isw straight.

Personally, I think Olivia is the kind of person that is attracted to the perosn’s soul/spirit rather then the gender. For example, Alex Cabot.
-They are both women in a hard job.
-They are in a job that is mostly 90% male.
-They’ve seen things that a human being should never see.
-Both are very ‘married’ to their jobs but wouldn’t give it a second thought of being their for someone.
-Both are very independant and strong but yet are very vulnrable (sp?).

There is an obvious connection between the two women because of that – they can relate to the other better then anyone. And yes, you can also say that about Elliot too.

Although I am a BIG shipper of A/O, I think it’s much more about what’s inside the person rather then the gender. So if Olivia is straight, cool. If she’s gay, cool. If she’s bi, cool. Either way, I hope the writers give what ever relationship she has with respect and dignity.

I think it would be a great and interesting twist of the storyline if Olivia was gay! Her and Alex would make a great couple! would love to see the guys in svu’s faces!!!!

i dont think that olivia benson is gay but i would like to see her get in a relationship with elliott that would be a goog storyline for the show and one other thing it would be great if she had a mini elliott running around the precint i think it would be cool if she were having a baby on the show and it was elliotts baby

My view is that Olivia has not been living as a closetted bisexual/lesbian for the past 10 seasons. It just doesn’t add up with her character. If she was gay, she would be out and matter of fact about it. Also, comments that the character has made do not make sense from someone living in the closet. E.g. in season 9 episode ‘Closet’, Benson asks what the big deal is about a famous football player being gay. If she were gay and not open about it, it wouldn’t cross her mind to make this comment, cos she would understand exactly what the big deal was. However, plenty of people go out with one gender for years, and then fall in love with someone of the other gender. So it’s possible that Olivia could meet a woman that she falls for. I think she’d be open to that. I just don’t go for this stuff about her having been in the closet up till this point.
