Deary me, what a terrible start to the New Year. I’m sure most of you have heard why our darling wasn’t at the People’s Choice Awards or the Golden Globes, she has Pneumothorax (a partially collapsed lung). News just released: Richard Belzer has revealed that Mariska is due to be back to work next week and is doing okay. Full details under the cut.

According to MedicinePlus Medical Encyclopedia Pneumothorax “is the collection of air or gas in the space around the lungs. may result from chest trauma, excess pressure on the lungs, or a lung disease such as COPD, asthma, cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, or whooping cough. In some cases, the cause is unclear.”

According to TMZ and People Mariska was on vacation over the christmas period at her property in the Hamptons and had a sledding accident.

On Monday Mariska’s rep, Gary Mantoosh, released a statement stating that Mariska has pneumothorax (a partially collapsed lung) but will not miss any episodes of SVU. I imagine this is because episodes are usually made ahead of airing dates.

According to TMZ Mariska’s lung (left or right unknown) has collapsed again and she has been readmitted to hospital. OK! Magazine says Mariska had surgery for this but this source isn’t always reputable.

The exact reason Mariska’s lung originally collapsed is unknown, it may or may not have been a pre-existing condition.

News just in! Mariska is due to be back on set/work next week and is doing okay. Richard Belzer has revealed on The View:

“She’s doing great. She’s absolutely OK. If you believe in it say a prayer for her. If you don’t send her appealing thoughts. She had a little accident sledding. But she’s OK and she’ll be back to work next week.”

On behalf of Love Train we wish Mariska well and hope she has a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with you!
