Hello my real name is Lauren but I am Mariska’s biggest fan. I now every thing about Mariska. If Mariska Hargitay really does see this web site it will make my birthday wish come true.

I’m sorry to here about Mariska’s recent illness with the spontaneous pneumothorax (collasped lung). The article state she received no injury but I feel I may be able to answer what happened. I have had the same thing happen to me on three seperate occassions. I have what is known as blebs. It is a congenital condition where you are born with small bubbles on the wall of the lung. Some of these blebs grow and eventually “pop” lile a bubble on a tire intertube and the lung collapses. A chest tube is inserted into the patients chest and suction is applied to the tube causing negative pressure in the chest cavity and the lung reinflates. The chest tube stays in a day or two, removed and the lung stays up.
Unfortunate for me ,mine had three times in a 8 month period, the 3rd time resulted in lung surgery and a patial lobectomy. My lung grew back in that area and after the removal of the remaing blebs on the lung I have been fine since.
I have a 5cm bleb on my left lung and not have had a problem yet and I hope never too.
I hope Mariska is not as serious as my situation was and hope for a speedy,safe and healthy recovery. I hope Mariksa has a chance to read this e-mail to know that though the first time this happens doesn’t mean it will happen again and one can go about living a normal healthy life as long as you don’t smoke or are exposed to second hand smoke.
